Community Spotlight: Blanchet House & Blanchet Farm

Blanchet House Portland
Blanchet House Portland

At Generous-City, we’re proud to uplift organizations doing life-changing work — and today, we’re shining a light on one of Portland’s most powerful forces of compassion: Blanchet House.

Since 1952, Blanchet House has stood as a beacon of dignity, hospitality, and healing in the heart of downtown Portland. With open doors and open hearts, they:

Serve three hot meals a day, six days a week

Hand out sack lunches to-go for anyone in need

Offer clothing, showers, and connection to critical services

And they do it all year-round, even in the harshest weather

But that’s not all — just 30 miles away in Yamhill County lies Blanchet Farm, a 62-acre sanctuary where men in recovery from addiction find hope, healing, and purpose. Through:

Animal care

Gardening and beekeeping

Woodworking

And the quiet power of nature

Men rediscover their self-worth and rebuild their lives one day at a time in a safe, supportive, and sober environment.

What makes all of this possible?

Volunteers.

Community members who show up with love

Who serve meals, offer kindness, and never stop believing in others

Who are there — rain or shine, heat or snow — without expecting anything in return

You are the heartbeat of Blanchet House.

You make compassion visible.

You remind us that we are never alone in this work.

To the entire team at Blanchet House and Blanchet Farm — thank you. For your legacy. For your resilience. For choosing humanity every single day.

Blanchet house is currently in need of a water heater to be able to continue their work in helping those in need.

If you would like to help support their efforts, see how by visiting their website @ BlanchetHouse.org

With immense gratitude and unity,

The Generous-City Team
